Babies and Raccoons

Friday night, big sis Jessica fell on her very large and pregnant tummy and went into early labor. Which the doctor may have tried to stop but there was possibility of an abruption so an emergency c-section was in order, and little Ryan William Brown 'Will' (not Willy) came into the world. A month early, but fine apart from his little underdeveloped lungs. He is now off oxygen and progressing well, just having his breathing monitored. And darling. It amazes me how different little baby boys and girls are. Boy are still new to this family, and they are just that, little tiny boys. I wish I had photos to share but forgot my camera so that will have to wait.

Jess is such a trooper. She's been through a lot with her past pregnancies, and to watch her in recovery from surgery and with this new little infant it occurred to me how brave my big sister really is. Well all of my sisters. She joked as the nurse was redressing her staples asking if I was ready to do all of that. And while the answer is yes, it's a tentative yes. And not like today or anything. But just know darling mother sisters that I admire you all in your mothering adventures. I think that being a single girl in the LDS world can be tough at times, but I know that it is just a whole nother set of struggles. And joys for that matter.

Also, this past week I have been watching Maren's little baby Mr. Puddles. He snuggled me while I was nursing my persistent migraine and startled me on more than one occasion going in and out of the house through his cat door. So when I awoke at 5am Sunday morning to noises in the kitchen, I was sure it was just the cat. I heard eating noises along with the clank of a dish on the floor. But in my groggy state decided to check it out. As my eyes adjusted to the dark, I made our what I thought was Puddles at his dish, but then there was another one as well. Thinking some stray had made his way into the house I flipped on the light to find 2 very large raccoons looking up at me. In Maren's kitchen. Making a mess. One started moving towards me and I of course ran back to the bedroom and slammed the door. I'm pretty sure he chased me there and was going for the jugular. I could have died. In my half asleep and yet frantic state I texted a couple friends for moral support. One such friend who was really grateful for a text at 5am called to thank me for the correspondence and offer what help he could in his still slumbering state.

Long story short, I finally ventured out of the room, raccoons had fled, leaving a mess and a frazzled Sarah in their wake. I could have died people.
