U as in Eunuch

So my life right now consists mainly of two things: Being large and uncomfortable and being yelled at on the phone by people regarding school uniforms, of all things. People take their uniforms very seriously. Especially when they order them the weekend before school starts and don't understand that we cant mail them across the country in time for school to start on Monday. So I spend my day trying not to take nastiness personally and chuckling over absurdities and then telling Joel about really fascinating tales of uniform orders (they aren't, in fact, fascinating).

But I do enjoy when people spell out their names saying: A, as in apple, K as in Korea, U as in Eunuch.....etc. PS: Eunuch doesn't start with a U. But Unicorn does.

Also, when you are spelling your name over the phone, spelling it S as in S, A as in A, R as in R.....

......that kinda defeats the point.

Also, yelling at me to "DO IT, DON'T ASK ME ANY QUESTIONS JUST DO WHAT I'M ASKING! AND GUARANTEE THAT THE ADULT LARGE IS GOING TO FIT MY SON, NOW REPEAT THE SIZE AND GAUR-AN-TEE IT. NOW." is a tad frustrating when you wont let me ask you anything, like is this on a current order that you have placed? Or what is your order number? or what is it exactly that you are asking me to do, because you never actually told me. People be crazy. And really lucky that I am a pretty easy going person.

Oh the joys of customer service. The fact that most of the year is pretty chill (and by chill I mean I retaught myself to crochet, and then to knit, and caught up on lots of internet television) and that I work with great people and great insurance, and a JOB in a bad economy.....makes up for a couple months of insanity. Some people are very nice, it's just too bad that you remember the nightmare people (which more often than not have extremely unreasonable expectations and don't understand very simple information. And they can afford private school, something is maybe wrong with this equation). I'm considering telling them that I am pregnant and they are causing me undue anxiety which is bad for the baby. Maybe that will help.

Basically I just wanted to title a post "U as in Eunuch".

*******Update: Yesterday a lady started out a conversation yelling at me not to interrupt her because I said "okay" as I followed what she was saying. She then told me that I was asinine. And then somehow miraculously by the end of our exchange (and a couple calls later) she told me that I provided the best customer service she has ever received and applauded me for keeping so cool while she was being awful. So......WIN?**************

Consider yourself validated. I'm just surfing blogs tonight and really enjoyed this post. I know what it's like to be mired in tasks that lack enjoyment.
People really use "eunuch" as the indicative word for "U"? It seems that even if it did start with a U there are less awkward words to opt for using.

I also enjoyed this very much. Today at the lost and found this lady called in to tell me that we had her hat, so i asked her why she was calling--and she said so that I could locate it and return it with her--we didn't have it.

i feel you, lady. large and uncomfortable is my current state also.

thank God i am no longer in customer service, because i know for a fact that being pregnant, i would have ZERO tolerance for stupid people.

Wow, I have no idea how you stand this. My job has a lot to do with customer care over the phone and sometimes I just want to scream. And then I get ironic and of course the customer gets the point and is pissed at me and-so-on.
I was SUCH a nice person before my job and now - I just don't know how to built up a nice, patient and cooperative "Me" that just answers the phone.

I'm sooo wishing that I had kept up on at least your blog! You are so funny and I know these posts would have made so many of my days (instead of just reading them all at once).
