So the midwife that comes in on Fridays just asked me if I knew medical terminology. I think the wide eyes of terror should have been answer enough in the negative, but she continued nonetheless; "When the ankle is displaced inwards, is it varius or valgus?" I think now may be the time to break it to her that I probably only passed my high school Anatomy class because my teacher grew up across the street from my mom and loves my grandpa (who used to teach at that very school) and that I really did try. But medical stuff is not my strong suite. That or dissecting cats, or other dead animals. Because I am a little bit of a wuss. Mr. Bennion actually asked me at some point why on earth did I register for that class? But made an effort to help me by making copies of the diagrams featuring the dead cats so I could learn from them. No such luck.

He did however, when we had to get work assignments to make up time missed while we, the seniors, went to Disneyland for grad night, tell me that if I got a letter from my grandfather stating that he would not have required extra work from his students, that he would just let us be. Which grandpa did. Much to the gratitude of my classmates. The letter went a little something like this: Dear Mr. Bennion, please excuse my illustrious granddaughter and her worthy classmates.....yada yada yada. Grandpa always pulls through. And with the best vocabulary ever.

Just think what you could get away with if you were a Bush or a Clinton...
