What happens when you decide to make a quick trip to buy a book before the premiere of The Office....

Well, to start off, you must be incredibly ambitious seeing as how you are headed to the Borders downtown where you either have to park in the most ridiculous parking garage ever (can we not at least take a lesson from the casino's of Las Vegas? They seem to have the parking thing down) or find the ever elusive street parking, which is what I opted for despite there being none to be found. It became a matter of principle. After a few laps, I found a good spot on the other side of temple square....a straight shot past the temple and into Border's. I did the awkward run/walk move past disheartened missionaries (I'm usually very aware that they need people to talk to and references and all....but I was on a mission of my own at this moment), cross the street only to find the windows of what used to be Borders completely shrouded in cardboard due to the construction going on downtown. I was not daunted.

Scurried back to my car, did a massive U-turn towards the Gateway mall and Barnes and Noble. Again, I avoided the parking garage and parked out back directly behind my destination, walked decisively passed what appeared to be homeless men, one of which crossed the road to relieve himself in the bushes, only to find that my path was blocked off by yet....more construction. I ran/walked the detour, eventually passing the fountain that added to my existing cold (it was cold people!) passing the rastafarian man who steps in front of me and with his face close to mine stares intently into my eyes and says "You have a very nice face." I blush and dart around him calling thank you behind me, which is echoed by an "I mean it! You do!" and duck into Barnes and Noble. I find my selections rather quickly. Both to do with photography, make my purchase next to the guy wearing really great cologne, and ran back around heaven and earth to get to my car. Near which another man decided to use the non-existent facilities.

Long story short, I got my books, a compliment, grossed out, a sense of accomplishment, and missed The Office.
