USA is A-Okay!

Voice of Documentarian: So what was the theme of the pageant last year?
Gladys Leeman: Last year? It was, "Buy American."
Voice of Documentarian: And the year before that?
Gladys Leeman: "U.S.A. is A-okay."
Voice of Documentarian: Can you remember the theme of your favorite pageant?
Gladys Leeman: "Can I? I'm Amer-I-Can!" People ask me where I get this. I don't know, it's, maybe a gift from God or somethin'.

Thank you Gladys Leeman of Drop Dead Gorgeous for that and your stellar Minnesota accent.

Last night I attended a great patriotic salute to our fabulous country via colorful explosives. Almost as exciting as watching the BYU boy who prefers not to take his medication to regulate his ADHD while he is out of school tape fireworks to a sombrero and run amuck with sparks flying form his head while screaming "Viva Mexico!". Right after he introduced himself, shook my hand, asked me billions of questions, got distracted for a few minutes and then turned back around and asked if we had met?

But seriously, the large display at Sugarhouse park was something special, and I was filled with pride and gratitude for our great country. It was great fun with some great friends. And I wish I could boast having the best firework pictures around, but alas, seeing how I pretty much have been living at Courtney's for almost a week now, didn't have the camera with me.

Which has been great. Being Courtney's new unofficial roomy. She finished teaching last week, and I had some days off, so it's been a whirlwind of being lazy by the pool (breaking in the new swimsuit for California), movies, food, and social encounters. We have driven all over creation to meet up with all kinds of people, lit fireworks, flew a kite, rolled down a grassy knoll, got slurpees, slept (more so during the daytime than at night), refrained from my usual personal hygiene (I think I set a personal record in the missing of showers....and I am strangely proud of that), played with Oliver the wonderdog, had a viscous girly water balloon fight, tried to go up a canyon to a bonfire but got lost due to poor directions....5 times. And attended Court's ward where in RS they had the Good News Minute, where the 19 yr old girl who spent all of Sunday School snuggling with her boy toy announced that she would be leaving for Europe for a month "but I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing..." someone retorted "that's always a good thing", to which she responded "sigh...not when you're in love......". Where is the common decency and respect for other people's threshold for complete nausea? Have I become cold and stone hearted? I doubt it. Realistic and slightly mature in my thinking? I hope.

So really, a whole lotta nothing, but isn't that what I'm supposed to be doing about now?

And in T minus 4 hours, I will be headed to Vegas, and then California. Sadly, Disneyland may not be included in this excursion seeing how the couple decided they'd rather go to Magic Mtn instead of the happiest place on earth. And Im a pushover. But im just excited to get away, and play, and relax.

We just had 4 lazy days over the weekend to. Practically all the dishes in our house were dirty and scattered all over the counter and sink. The kids stayed in their pajams and I didn't get a shower for 4 days and we just watched Price and Prejudice (old and new), CSI, and the History channel.

Not nearly as fun as you had, but daring for us anyway! I wish that I could come hang out with all the Jones girls and do things like that with ya'll...ah, youth.

There is a place between complete nausea and cold hearted. You may not be there yet, but you'll get there one day!

It was fun! And go Britten! I've taken my lack of showering as a personal achievment lately. In an effort to be less high maintenance? I did shower today though.
