One of the perks of having a generic name is that lots of people write songs about you

My little car pool posse and I were listening to Iron & Wine this morning when I suddenly heard my name. Now, seeing as how I have one of the most generic names on the planet, this is to be expected. EVERYONE wants to write songs about me. It's kind of tiresome really. But the strange thing is that it sounded as if Sam Beam was saying my full name. I brushed it off as being Sarah Jane and that was that. When I arrived at work this morning, however, a completely separate party sent me a message with the link to these lyrics (spooky, I know):

"Radio War"

Did the wine make her dream
Of the far distant spring
Or a bed full of hens
Or the ghost of a friend

All the while that she wept
She had a gun by her bed
And a letter he wrote
From a dry, foundered boat

And the train track will take
All the wounded ones home
And I'll be alone
Fare thee well
Sara Jones

Now we lie on the floor
While the radio war
Finds its way through the air
Of the dead market square

And the beast never seen
Licks its red talons clean
Sara curses the cold
"No more snow, no more snow, no more snow"

He spelled my name wrong, but then again, so does everyone.

I feel so special and acknowledged.

Some other songs written about me:

Starship: (The most commonly sung to me for as long as I can remember)
Sara,
sara, storms are brewin in your eyes
Sara,
sara, no time is a good time for goodbyes

Unwritten Law: (So true to my character,
dontcha think?)
Sarah, not just the girl next door
She's well known, I don't go there no more

Death Cab For Cutie: (Love this one)
But I'm thinking of what Sarah said that "Love is watching someone die"

So who's going to watch you die?..

Kid Rock: (Oh, and this one, I can't get enough of)
Its been a hard night for sarah
Its been a hard night for sarah
Its been a hard night for sarah
But today is another day
Today is another day

OK GO: (Ok, now who told them that I used to walk to the Circle K with my sister every summer? Uncanny.)
Sarah's still down on the bench at the Circle K, crying and crying all day.

Radiohead: (That's right. I'm a killer. And my weapon? Love.)
I'm on a roll, I'm on a roll
This time, I feel my luck could change
Kill me Sarah, kill me again with love
It's gonna be a glorious day

Bob Dylan:
Sara, Sara
Whatever made you want to change your mind
Sara, Sara
So easy to look at, so hard to define.

Boyz II Men:
Sara smile (smile)
Why don't you smile awhile for me
Sara

Smile...

Il Divo:
Notte di luce
Una notte infinita
Una lettera che
Non sara mai spedita

John Mayer:
Sara's friend she lost her mind
She left him and made it look sexy now

Aaron Carter: (this song is actually called Jump On The Fizzy)
I partied down the block
I get my crew together
And I make a pit stop
Grab Kara, then Sara
Lisa, Mandy, and Tara
I got Jenny
Then Jessie
Now we're all chillin'

And then there is the song that Kevin wrote for me in High School. Called Sarah's song. My name
wasn't actually in the lyrics though. They were something along the lines of "angel in my mind" and his voice cracked when he sang it. He is now married with probably 5 kids. Well, 2 that I know of. But get this...................his wife is a photographer named Sarah. I guess it made the song easily transferable.

Yeah, so if you know of any other cool songs written about me, let me know. I need all the validation I can get after Kevin went and gave my song to his wife and all.

LCD Sound System mentioned you in "Daft Punk is Playing at My House". One of the best songs ever, I might add. The line is "Well everybody’s lined up in my house, my house
And Sarah’s girlfriend is working the door". He spelled your name right, but you're a lesbian.

I can't believe I missed that one. Seeing as how I pretty much love that song and want to have it's babies.

All I am to you is a "separate party"? And a "spooky" one? For shame. FARE THEE WELL, Sara(h) Jones.

Sorry, this one isn't really about Sarah. But you are in the running for the most sung about name.

Notte di luce
Una notte infinita
Una lettera che
Non sara mai spedita

Night of Light
An Infinite Night
A letter that
Will never be sent.

Sara = will

Non=not
Sara=will
mai=never
spedita=sent

-Sincerely
Blurker

Thanks for the translation anony.... I sorta figured as much as the spanish version of "i will" is "sera" (as in que sera, sera, which is sung to me on a regular basis) and which i almost added as well.

I'm really just concerned with anything that may look or sound like my name. i will take credit for anything. I'm just that vain.

Cky- Sara's Mask

In your remedial appearance
Sara I only expect to see
The whole thing a little bit clearer

You've got some pretty good songs going. I've got my Boston song, and then some old country song by Don Williams where he talks about the hair on his shoulders- how romantic
