Sigh....

That's all I have to say about the new Pride and Prejudice movie. That and girlish giggle.... Followed by another deeper sigh. Funny thing is I didn't have the highest of expectations for this one. I had read too many reviews comparing it to the BBC version and pretty much stating it paled in comparison. And I'm loyal. Even if it is loyalty to a six tape all-day commitment. That's all a part of the whole experience. So I guess you could say I have my prejudices......Get it? Heh.

But sufficed to say that I was sorely mistaken. Yes, the BBC version will always remain near and dear to my heart, but this production was something new and different all together. That's just it, it has to be a little bit of a different interpretation. You can't go and say, we are going to do the exact same thing but better, especially when an art like this is involved. It will always always fail. Always. It was just beautiful. Breathtaking. Mr. Darcy was the cutest awkward man ever. (I am not cheating on Colin Firth here, I'm just acknowledging a job well done. I don't even know this dudes name and am too lazy to look it up. Satisfied?). I love how society looked dirtier and just real. Not that I have lived in the world of petticoats and dowries, but it struck me as more realistic. And after seeing it on Saturday, I noticed the previews state that never has romance been this sexy. And it's so true. You barely get to see a sweet kiss in this and yet I believe it is the sexiest thing I have possibly ever witnessed. Take that world convinced that nudity and vulgarity is the only way to go.

And can I just give honorable mention (I was going to say 'give a shout out' but let's just face it, there is now way in H-E-double-Hell that I can pull that off) to the three men who where in the huge packed theatre. Bless their hearts.

There's more, and if you would care to discuss, just comment, because I'm too lazy to type that much right now.

Double .....sigh....

okay...i saw the movie yesterday and LOVED IT TOO. it was everything you said...i loved the rustic quality...the scenery...awkward darcy...and i loved that i could finally figure out what they were talking about since in the A&E production there were a couple of lines of communication between darcy and elizabeth that i could never totally understand. this one made those conversations very clear. i also loved that she told her dad about what darcy did for their family. i always wanted that A&E dad to know and felt cheated out of people finding out the kind of good guy he was. i could ramble about it for at least another 45 minutes...but will stop now. if you wish to discuss it further...you know where i am.

I know. I could talk about it forever as well. Amelia and I kept looking at each other every five minutes and literally sighing. It is somehow incredibly intense and wonderful and beautiful and other things as well.

HI SARAH!!
Okay, I know I wasn't invited to blog, and I know that I should probably start by asking how you are followed by a boring discourse of what I've been doing with my little life, but instead, I will simply comment on Pride and Prejudice!!
LOVE IT. Love it for all the same reasons you do! I love the dirtiness, too, isn't that weird?! Just the most amazingly romantic movie ever. I even dragged McKay to it (I got married--did you know that?) and he liked it too. Because he has soul. Booyah.
I can talk about this dang movie forever...
but hey! How are you?! Come to my painfully neglected blog! And as soon as I can figure out how, I'll put the link to Laura's blog up there!
Oh yeah--this is Amanda Webster (Marshall)...sorry, probly shoulda put that first. :)
