Strangers and Neighbors

More like strangers in the late afternoon. I pulled into our little quasi party lot behind the house yesterday after a grueling day at work (maybe not grueling, but it sounds more dramatic) and as I turn to open my car door, there is a women standing there looking at me. She looked slightly familiar as she is the resident of the house I must pass while turning into the quasi parking lot. I think I have smiled and maybe waved at her once when she was in her front yard. Maybe twice. I roll down my window and the most incredible runon sentence pours from her mouth. Something along the lines of " I know I don't know you and you don't know me and this is really weird, but my car broke down and my son was supposed to give me a ride but he's not here and I was trying to find something for my daughter for dinner and then just saw my bus drive by and I was wondering if there was ANY way you could give me a ride the the U I swear I'm not a freak."

So what else is a girl with a frowny (it frown's) messy car but say "Sure". Turns out that her name is Janeane or something similar and has two kids and has lived in Utah for ten years but in the house for five and is originally from the southeast and never thought she would want to go back but has been missing it lately and has a degree in math but hasn't really been able to utilize it so went back into school for a degree in theater so she can do children's theater because she has had a lot of fun working on her daughters plays and is late for her rehearsal for this play and they are really weird about you being late and they rehearse all the time which doesn't leave a lot of time to spend with the kids with school and rehearsals and all, and I think we can learn a lot from what happened with Hurricane Katrina because there are so many people who need help so maybe we can go into places like Chicago maybe and help the people that are living in slums and stuff like that and this is my stop, thank you so so much, and what was your name again?

Sweet, talkative slightly eccentric woman. She's my neighbor. I gave her a ride.

Yes, it's a 'party' lot. Not parking. Because you know me and how I like to part-tay.

So really no, I must have been thinking about partying instead of sitting at my desk typing until my fingers cramp up. And it was too cool to change.

Kim, you give me way too much credit. I'm sure that you would have done the same.
